In the New Testament, we read about Simon the magician (sorcerer) in Functions 8:11-23. Simon sees the Apostles’ functions and decides he would love the same energy, so he presents Peter money to the “present.” Peter admonishes him, “May your silver perish with you, simply because you considered you can attain the gift of God with revenue!
